What is PARISLOCAL?

THE EVENT TO DISCOVER GRAND PARIS CRAFTSMANSHIP.

PARISLOCAL l'évènement regroupe les artisans du Grand Paris qui ouvrent leurs portes les 17, 18 et 19 novembre 2023.

ParisLocal returns on November 17, 18 and 19 for a 3rd edition inviting Parisians and tourists to meet the artisans of Grand Paris, ambassadors of responsible craftsmanship and local tourism.

ParisLocal is 3 days to experience Paris differently, by pushing open the doors of workshops, boutiques and manufactories to discover the richness of Parisian savoir-faire.

ParisLocal brings together 600 talents: fine craftspeople, food artisans and makers (ceramicists, cabinetmakers, jewellers, chefs, pastry chefs, cheesemongers, glassblowers, designers, wigmakers…) committed to authentic and sustainable creation, and to mindful consumption.

Created following the 2021 Assises du Tourisme durable, and at the initiative of Paris je t'aime - Office de tourisme et de la Ville de Paris, ParisLocal celebrates the artisans who embody the identity and authenticity of the capital through their savoir-faire, inseparable from the Parisian art de vivre.

ParisLocal plays a full part in making Paris an attractive destination, with a commitment to offering a meaningful experience to as many people as possible. Over this festive long weekend, visitors and local artisans come together for encounters, exchanges and discoveries.

The dynamism and vitality of Greater Paris rest largely on the richness and diversity of talents celebrated through the ParisLocal event. All these artisans come together around shared values of transmission, sustainability and beauty. Ambassadors of their trades and expertise, they keep Parisian craftsmanship alive and reinvent it for today.

We are proud to have been interviewed on this occasion.

"Who is behind Habile?

I am Camille Andrieux and I come from the world of luxury and fashion, where I worked as an art director. My husband is chef Éric Fontanini. Today, we run together a restaurant that has its own clothing brand and a clothing brand that has its own restaurant. It all started with an apron: Éric was looking for the perfect apron for his daily life as a chef, tailored to his build. From that apron, we wanted to create a unisex brand, so that everyone could dress the same way. And from that unisex brand, we created a place in our own image — somewhere you can shop for clothes, eat at any hour, where we care about the traceability and the making of everything we sell. That place is called Habile and is located at 16 rue de Lancry, in the 10th arrondissement.

How would you describe Habile?

HABILE is the union of our strengths to create a shared project, to prove that it's possible to act differently within the economic models of fashion and food — today among the most polluting in the world. We wanted to create a living space that brings together both dining and clothing, our two worlds. Our restaurant has the distinctive feature of a menu that changes every month. Seasonality is a fundamental criterion in the creation of our recipes and our menu. We offer continuous service, from 11am to 11pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The clothing boutique, located on the mezzanine, is also open throughout the day.

Why are you taking part in Parislocal?

We are proud to be representing ParisLocal for the first time this year and to be part of a project that, like us, places the local at the heart of every initiative. It is essential today to consider the origin of a product before consuming it, and ours fit perfectly within this sustainable approach, championed by ParisLocal. We also offer an innovative concept combining a restaurant and a boutique that I had never seen in France before. We are all the more proud to show that even as born-and-bred Parisians, we have taken everything we love about Paris while also bringing what we hadn't yet found here.

What will you be offering for Parislocal?

Éric will be in his kitchen to present the month's menu and explain our know-how. We will also be offering a tour of our wine cellar, which is set to open in November — a project we've been working on for six months!

On the clothing side, our end-of-year new arrivals will be ready for ParisLocal: visitors will be able to discover our new colourways, developed with Saint-James as a limited edition and made from yarn stocks they already have on site. From this winter, children's beanies will be available exclusively.

Finally, ParisLocal visitors will be able to purchase gift sets for every budget, to make a recipe from a single product. It will also be a great opportunity to find the perfect Christmas gift — something to give for the pleasure of sharing, while consuming mindfully."

PARISLOCAL on 17, 18 and 19 November 2023.
